Degreed for my Internet Degree

Degreed Learning Plan Dashboard
It seems like, to date, there are around a hundred or so learning platforms, which translates to thousands and thousands of courses. I will have to find a way to tie all these together. Fortunately for me, I discovered Degreed. It's the perfect online learning management tool which will help me solidify my learning targets and the objectives of this humble blog.

For now, I will just set it up first and I truly hope that I can sustain this blog to give back to people who want to harness the power of the internet to educate themselves despite meager resources.

Wonderful Wunderlist

Truth be told, I was a hardcore ToDoist fan until I got to see the wonders of Wunderlist this year as a Google Chrome extension. I am getting reacquainted with the business side of Google these days and I needed something to glue all my tasks together in an organized or seamless fashion. I was searching for the right add-on when Wunderlist was displayed on top of the search list with numerous raving reviews. I decided to see what the productivity hullabaloo was about and joined the bandwagon. Three weeks into the interface, I'm in "Shut up and take my money!" mode.

For the purposes of privacy, I cannot really reveal my work tasks but here's one segment of my Wunderlist containing my Couch Potato or TV show favorites. The interface is simple. I merely sort my tasks and if the tasks repeat weekly, daily, or monthly, I schedule them already. Each day, I just look at the list, see what needs to be done, and gain the maximum pleasure from checking off the list items one by one.

And because it's really famous, it has a lot of integrations to applications like Slack:

It can also be installed on iOS and Android. I also love Evernote but there is a simplicity in Wunderlist that just psychs me up and gets things done pronto.

I know that I am still a long way from exploring the entirety of Wunderlist so for now, I will leave this post as is and see what else I can find in the Serial Learner burrow for my upcoming posts.

Meandering through Complexity

These days, whenever you want information, you can easily get it. Here is one problem: how do you distinguish garbage and gem in the information mega-highway called the internet? Those decisions come almost every minute when you click on a website to research for new information or skills.

I think the answer does not come in a single blog post. It's a journey. It's a series of journeys. And I begin this blog precisely for this very reason. There is this undeniable complexity that brings about maximum knowledge when harnessed, simplified, and tailored to suit each other's purposes.

Here in this blog, there will be seven major categories, to wit:

1. Learning Platform Features and Reviews (Technical)
2. Standalone Online Course Reviews (Substantial)
3. Course Series Reviews (Substantial)
4. Study Productivity and Time Hacks (Practical)
5. Open Universities (Regular Reviews or Features)
6. Hackathons (Event Features or Reviews)
7. Tutorials

It's a tall order, yes, considering all my other commitments. But this is a long overdue thing, considering how many inefficiencies I have seen and how so much more could have been done if there were actually more accounts about achievable productivity online.

Bottom line is pretty simple: if I have helped one confused soul who wants to optimize the use of life's time and energy, then I have done okay with this blog.

So... I won't make this too long and I shall be updating this from time to time along with my other blogs and see what comes of it later on.
